Fujifilm Holdings Corp., a Japanese multinational company in the field of optical devices and medical electronics, has opened a new NURA Global Innovation Center in India. This is reported in a press release from Fujifilm.
The NURA Center provides medical screening services, tests for cancer and other diseases, and is also a training center for medical personnel, including radiological technologists and nurses working at NURA medical screening centers in developing countries.
In addition, the new center has remote diagnostic equipment using medical screening results at NURA centers throughout India.
The NURA Center is located in Kozhikode, Kerala, India, where Dr. Kutty's Healthcare, Fujifilm's partner in developing medical screening systems and training medical professionals, operates.
The new NURA center is the eighth medical screening center that uses Fujifilm medical equipment, including computed tomography and mammography systems, as well as AI technologies to help doctors diagnose and provide medical services to local residents and medical staff.
Fujifilm launched the first NURA medical screening center in Bangalore, India in 2021, and subsequently opened new centers and currently operates four centers in India, two in Mongolia and one in Vietnam. Fujifilm plans to increase the number of medical screening centers to 100 by 2030.
According to World Health Statistics 2024, published by WHO, the average life expectancy of Japanese people is 84.5 years and ranks first in the world due to a well-developed medical care system. However, there are not enough medical examination centers in developing countries, given the serious shortage of medical specialists capable of working with modern medical equipment, including computed tomography.
Fujifilm Holdings Corporation, or Fujifilm, is a Japanese multinational conglomerate headquartered in Tokyo, Japan. The company develops innovative technologies in the fields of photography, optics, office and medical electronics, biotechnology and chemistry.
