Saudi food company Tanmiah Food Company has signed three preliminary agreements with France's Schneider Electric and Saudi companies Strataphy and Kayes Arabia to implement decarbonization and energy efficiency plans. This is reported in a press release from Tanmiah.
The agreements were signed within the framework of the Saudi Agri-Food Technology Alliance Forum (Saudi Agri-Food Tech Alliance Forum SAFTA) in accordance with Tanmiah's commitments to support Saudi Arabia's Vision 2030 sustainable development program.
Tanmiah plans to develop a science-based plan to reduce carbon dioxide emissions, build the region's first geothermal-cooled poultry farm, and convert diesel equipment to cleaner liquefied petroleum gas (LPG).
In particular, in accordance with the agreement with Schneider Electric, Tanmiah will compile a carbon emissions registry and set emission reduction targets based on the concept of science-based targets. The project aims to decarbonize the supply chain by attracting key suppliers.
As part of a separate collaboration with the Saudi startup Strataphy, Tanmiah will introduce a geothermal cooling system at a poultry plant in Shakra.
The third agreement with Kayes Arabia is aimed at transferring diesel equipment at Tanmiah processing plants to liquefied gas systems in order to reduce emissions and operating costs.
