The St. Petersburg Federal Antimonopoly Service of Russia has opened a case against Burger King for false advertising of burgers. The actions of Burger Rus LLC show signs of violation of paragraph 1 of Part 2 of Article 5 of the law "On Advertising". This is stated in the message of the service.

The FAS received a complaint about the advertisement for Burger King. The text of the advertisement: "...Burger King cooks burgers on fire. Logically. It's scary to imagine what Dostaevsky is cooking...".

According to paragraph 1 of Part 2 of Article 5 of the Federal Law "On Advertising", advertising containing incorrect comparisons of the advertised product with goods in circulation that are produced by other manufacturers or sold by other sellers is recognized as unfair.

When comparing their own products with competitors' products in advertising, comparisons based on disparate criteria or incomplete comparison of goods are not allowed, since this distorts the idea of the advertised product and does not allow an objective assessment of its properties.

The UFAS has no reason to believe that the Dostaevsky company (Fabrika-Kitchen LLC) prepares substandard dishes. Meanwhile, UFAS has doubts that burgers are cooked on fire. A case of violation of the law has been initiated against Burger Rus LLC. The Department will check all the circumstances. If proven guilty, the company faces a fine.

Burger King is a fast food restaurant chain. Founded in 1954, Burger King specializes in burgers.
