The Ministry of Finance of the Russian Federation has prepared draft amendments to the Tax Code on the introduction of VAT on foreign goods imported into the Russian Federation or purchased by individuals on foreign marketplaces. The relevant document is posted on the federal portal of draft regulatory legal acts.
VAT in 2027 may amount to 5%, in 2028 - 10%, in 2029 - 15%, from 2030 - 20%. The tax will be paid by persons recognized as VAT taxpayers in connection with the movement of goods across the customs border of the Eurasian Economic Union.
