Alexander Leonov has been appointed to the position of Vice President - Head of the Kola Division of the company, General Director of the Kola MMC.

In his new position, Alexander Leonov will focus on KGMC's key investment projects, primarily related to the environment and occupational safety. Its tasks include the implementation of initiatives to improve the quality of nickel products and timely change of the company's product range in accordance with current trends and market requirements, improving the productivity and safety of mining operations, providing mines with advanced reserves.

Evgeny Borzenko, who previously headed the Kola MMC, will continue to work at Norilsk Nickel and will be responsible for developing the strategy and development of nickel refining technologies, analyzing potential areas of integration with deeper processing plants.

Alexander Leonov is an experienced manager who has worked at Norilsk Nickel for more than 20 years. He worked his way up from a worker to the director of a Copper plant, deputy director of the Polar Branch of Norilsk Nickel for sustainable development and ecology.

"The Kola Division plays a strategic role in the production of modern products in demand by consumers, including for the battery industry. The mass transition to electric transport determines the dynamics of demand for our metals and strengthens the role of the Monchegorsk industrial hub. Alexander Sergeevich Leonov graduated with honors from the Norilsk Industrial Institute with a degree in metallurgy of non-ferrous metals.

He started his career at the Copper plant as an electrolyzer of aqueous solutions of the copper electrolysis shop, went from a worker to the director of the enterprise. Since January 2022, he has worked as Deputy Director of the Polar Branch of Norilsk Nickel for Sustainable Development and Ecology.

He has the honorary titles of "Personnel Worker of the Polar Branch of OJSC MMC Norilsk Nickel" and "The Best Head of PJSC MMC Norilsk Nickel", Certificate of Honor of the Ministry of Industry and Trade of the Russian Federation.
