Since the beginning of the year, buses have been completely replaced with electric buses on 45 metropolitan routes. More than 200 thousand trips are made on them on weekdays. So many electric bus routes have not yet been launched in the capital in a year. This was announced by the Deputy Mayor of Moscow for Transport and Industry Maxim Liksutov.
"Today, two thousand KamAZ and LiAZ electric buses operate on more than 150 routes. Since the beginning of the year, 650 innovative vehicles have been delivered to the parks of Mosgortrans. Moscow retains the leadership in Europe in terms of the number of environmentally friendly transport. This year we have launched a record number of electric bus routes and continue to develop the network on behalf of Sergei Sobyanin," Maxim Liksutov said.
Most of the new routes were opened in the south-west of the capital: eco-friendly equipment began to run on 16 of them. CJSC with 12 routes, including the main M2, is in second place, and the Southern Administrative District (10 routes) is in third place.
Replacing one bus with an electric bus reduces carbon dioxide emissions by more than 60 tons per year. In addition, smooth running and the absence of noise and vibrations ensure a high level of comfort. The salons are equipped with charging ports for mobile devices and media screens with route information. Electric buses are also equipped with folding ramps for passengers with limited mobility, platforms for strollers and bicycles in the cabin.
Since 2022, improved equipment has been supplied to the capital. Such cars have adaptive interior lighting, which changes from a cold shade to a warm one at 14:00. The front route indicator, enlarged by 18 percent, allows you to see the number even better from afar. The interior is heated by an electric heater, which does not affect the environment and maintains an optimal temperature. The power reserve increased from 40-50 to 80 kilometers, while the weight of the car remained the same. In addition, KamAZ and LiAZ electric buses in an updated design are entering the routes this year.
Moscow is among the world leaders in the development and use of electric transport. Eco-friendly Russian-made equipment has been on the routes of the capital since September 2018. Over 500 million trips have been made on electric bus routes in six years. Two thousand electric buses have already been helping residents and guests of the city to get to rail transport stations, important social facilities and attractions.
Innovative transport is serviced under life cycle contracts at 11 Mosgortrans sites. For 15 years after the transfer of cars to the capital's fleet, manufacturers independently ensure the proper operation of equipment on routes.
In 2022, the Krasnaya Pakhra electric bus park, Russia's first and Europe's largest, opened in Moscow. Eco-friendly cars entered the routes in Novomoskovskiy and Troitskiy administrative districts for the first time. A year later, the Mitino Park was built in the NWAO. With its advent, electric buses began to run in almost 20 districts of the capital and two nearby cities of the Moscow region. The third innovative electric bus fleet, Saltykovka, was launched at the end of 2023 in the east of the city.
With new supplies of equipment and the development of charging infrastructure, even more electric buses will enter the routes. They will replace buses and make trips for Muscovites and guests of the capital more comfortable. In addition, the negative impact on the environment will be reduced.
