The Yandex Maps API has released the NaviKit SDK, a new addition to the software library for mobile applications. It allows you to create your own car navigator for Android and iOS based on Yandex mapping and navigation technologies. With NaviKit, you can adapt custom driver scenarios to specific business tasks and implement them into your application.
Among the main functions that NaviKit allows you to integrate is route guidance with warnings about maneuvers, cameras, road works. Thanks to ready-made text annotations and available functionality, companies can make voice tracking of the route. At the same time, the routes themselves will be accurate and relevant: when calculating the path options, NaviKit will take into account not only traffic jams and distance, but also additional parameters specified by the customer — the class and dimensions of the car, speed limits, exclusion of toll roads and others.
NaviKit can be used in a variety of industries: from the mining industry or the automotive industry to retail and delivery. For example, logistics companies can establish rules for the safe transportation of goods, limiting the speed of drivers and setting certain routes, as well as configure receiving information about the movements of cars in real time. Resource companies can arrange to display alerts about upcoming turns and realignments on the highway earlier than the usual scenario in order to give drivers in the northern regions more time to maneuver. Automakers based on Yandex technologies can develop their own navigator in a proprietary design for an on-board computer, offering users an even more comfortable driving experience.
