The Russian government has imposed a temporary ban on the export of certain types of petrochemical products from Russia outside the Eurasian Economic Union. This is reported on the website of the Cabinet of Ministers.
The ban, imposed for 3 months, applies to the export of coal and petroleum benzenes, toluene, orthoxylene, paraxylene and phenol.
These chemical compounds are raw materials for the production of medical products, food packaging, floor coverings, cable insulation, as well as paint and varnish materials used in automotive, aviation, marine and railway engineering.
The established restrictive measures do not apply to the export of petrochemical products within the framework of international transit traffic, the implementation of supplies through international humanitarian aid, as well as to ensuring the activities of Russian organizations operating in the Svalbard archipelago.
