Corning paid an antitrust fine in the amount of 47 million rubles. This was reported by the FAS of Russia.

In 2019, the FAS filed a case against Corning Inc, Corning CIS LLC and four Russian optical cable manufacturing plants at the request of Optical Fiber Systems JSC.

The organizations were found to have violated antitrust laws.

The company entered into an agreement with the factories for the guaranteed purchase of Corning Inc optical fiber in the amount of 85-100% of its own needs, as well as Corning Inc's right to priority supplies.

According to the agency, such agreements were anti-competitive. Illegal activities have also had a negative impact on the development of optical fiber production in the territory of the Russian Federation.

In this regard, the service issued orders to companies to eliminate violations and imposed fines.
