The Magnitogorsk Iron and Steel Works has completed the overhaul of the 1st class of blast furnace No. 7 worth 4.8 billion rubles. This is stated on the MMK website.
After the repair, the furnace's capacity increased to 1.1 million tons of pig iron per year from 1 million tons. Coke consumption has also decreased by 16 kg per 1 ton of cast iron.
During the modernization, the complex of air heaters was updated, including the construction of a shaft-less type air heater No. 24 with an upper gorenje chamber. Due to this, the temperature of the hot blast increased to 1250 ° C, and the coke consumption also decreased. In the agglomerate feed system, the plate conveyor has been replaced with a belt conveyor due to the transition to the cold agglomerate of sinter plant No. 5.
The previous overhaul of furnace No. 7 took place in 2002. The current repair has made it possible to almost completely upgrade the unit.
