In Belgium, on October 1, 2024, a national strike of service sector workers began, including staff from security agencies, cleaning companies, restaurants and hotels, who demand better working conditions and higher wages. This is reported by foreign media.

A large number of security personnel at Belgium's largest airports, Zaventem and Charleroi, are taking part in the strike. As a result of the strike, flight capacity was reduced and all departing flights were cancelled due to insufficient number of security personnel.

At the same time, the affected passengers, whose number may exceed 42 thousand, are not entitled to financial compensation, since flights are canceled due to a strike by "third parties".

Belgium's largest trade union, the Confédération des syndicats chrétiens (Confederation of Christian Trade Unions, CSC), attributes the strike to protests against "high workload" and "poor working conditions" at airports.
