The Honest Sign state labeling system, created by the CRPT with the participation of Rostec, blocked more than 447 million illegal goods at the cash registers of Russian stores from January 1 to April 15, 2025. This was announced by Rostec.
Among the positions not allowed to be implemented: 77 million tobacco products, 50 million liters of beer and low-alcohol beverages, 107 million units of dairy products, 19 million bottles of water.
87 million goods were blocked in the Volga Federal District, 77 million in the Central Federal District, and 32 million in the Northwestern Federal District.
The blocking of goods with an "Honest Sign" was carried out for a number of reasons. The most common are: expired expiration date, lack of information about the introduction of goods into circulation; repeat sales — an attempt to copy a legal code to illegal products, this is immediately detected by the system; code incorrectness when goods have not passed cryptography verification, that is, the codes could be copied.
In 2024, 477 million illegal goods were blocked due to the permissive labeling regime at the cash registers.
The Honest Sign system was launched in 2019. The purpose of the system is to whitewash the market, combat counterfeiting and provide quality and safety guarantees for consumers. The work on suppressing the access of illegal products to the market of the CRPT is carried out in cooperation with Rospotrebnadzor.
