St. Petersburg Exchange trading volume increased to $15.2 billion

The volume of trading in the main mode of foreign securities trading on the St. Petersburg Exchange amounted to $15.2 billion in August 2020 against $14.81 billion in July. The total amount of transactions reached $19.61 billion against $18.91 billion, the exchange informed.

The average daily volume of trading in the main trading mode increased by 7% to $723.57 million. The number of transactions in the main trading mode was 15.85 million in August increasing by 17%.

The trading in securities included in the S&P 500 index accounted for 56% of the total volume of trading in the main trading mode.

On August 21, the St. Petersburg Exchange launched the market of euro-denominated European securities. 5 German issues are available for trading: BMW (SPB:BMW@DE), Infineon Technologies (SPB: IFX@DE), MERCK Kommanditgesellschaft auf Aktien (SPB:MRK@DE), Henkel (SPB: HEN3@DE), and Carl Zeiss Meditec (SPB: AFX@DE).

St. Petersburg Exchange is the leading trading venue for foreign securities in the Russian Federation. Trading started in November 2014. Deals are concluded according to the Russian law, with settlements mainly in US dollars.
