Another air traffic controllers strike took place in France, which led to the cancellation of 933 flights. This is reported by foreign media.
The two largest unions of French air traffic controllers participated in the strike, which includes 26.2% of trade union members (272 dispatchers). The strike is directed against the introduction of a new system for monitoring the presence of dispatchers in the workplace.
According to the European Airline Association Airlines for Europe, a total of 1,500 flights were canceled in Europe as a result of flight disruptions between the UK, Spain, Italy and Greece.
The French Ministry of Transport believes that the decision of trade union organizations to hold a strike during the summer holidays is irresponsible and the demands unacceptable. According to analysts, every minute of flight delay costs airlines 100 euros, and every cancelled flight costs 18.57 thousand euros.
In Italy and Spain, airport staff and longshoremen intend to hold strikes on July 10, 11 and 26, limiting ground support to airports, which will lead to flight delays.
In the Netherlands, KLM ground services are planning to strike on July 9, pending the outcome of wage negotiations.
