The Pipe Metallurgical Company (TMK) has commissioned a new pipe preheating and drying unit at the anticorrosive coating site in the pipe and electric welding Workshop (CHP) No. 6 of TMK Pipeline Solutions (TMK TR, TMK branch) in Chelyabinsk. The project made it possible to increase the productivity of the production line and expand the range of products. This is stated in the company's message.

The preheating and drying unit is designed to remove moisture and heat the outer surface of the pipes for subsequent application of a protective layer. The operating temperature varies from 30 to 90 degrees Celsius depending on the diameter of the pipes. At the same time, the low level of heat loss due to structural features reduces the consumption of gas used for processing.

The project, implemented in cooperation between TMK TR, the Chelyabinsk Pipe Rolling Plant (ChelPipe, a branch of TMK) and TMK Technical Service (TMK Techservice), increases the productivity of the anticorrosive coating site to 500 square meters per hour.

The new installation will expand product processing capabilities — the protective layer will be applied not only to welded pipes with a diameter of up to 1220 mm, but also to seamless pipes with a diameter of 114 mm.

As previously reported, in 2026, the Chelyabinsk workshop "Height 239" of TMK TR mastered the technology of applying weather-resistant coating to large-diameter pipes. The coating protects products from temperature fluctuations, UV rays, prolonged exposure to moisture, as well as some aggressive environments.

TMK is a supplier of steel pipes, pipe solutions and related services for various sectors of the economy. TMK manufactures threaded pipes, special pipes, pipeline systems and other products for the energy, chemical industry, mechanical engineering, construction and other industries. TMK shares are traded on the Moscow Stock Exchange. TMK's revenue under IFRS for the first half of 2026 amounted to 149.4 billion rubles.
