The Sistema Charitable Foundation conducted a series of career guidance and career events for different target audiences of the social impact project in the field of education "Personnel for the forestry complex of the Kostroma region" - schoolchildren, students and teachers. The complex of events took place at the sites of Kostroma State University, Kostroma College of Industrial Technologies of Construction and Forestry Industry and Galich Plywood Mill (Segezha Group, MOEX: SGZH).

"Strengthening the human resources potential of the backbone industry of the region is a complex and complex task. Everyone involved in the implementation of this task sees the field of activity from their side – a space is needed in which information can be updated, an action plan can be verified, and feedback can be given and received. As part of the social impact project, we managed to create such a space and regularly initiate live interaction," says Elena Kulmach, Deputy Director of the Department of Education and Science of the Kostroma Region.

"Ideally, career guidance is immersion in the profession at all levels: learning the theoretical foundations, getting to know technologies, communicating with already working specialists, the opportunity to visit offices and enterprises, try to complete simple tasks. In the Kostroma Region, as part of the social impact project, we managed to create a career guidance system that is close to ideal – and we are confident that this experience can be extended to other regions and industries," says Alevtina Ksenofontova, head of career guidance and internships projects at the Sistema Charitable Foundation.

An open Day was held at Kostroma State University. The participants were able to study educational programs and get acquainted with teachers from all departments, including logging and wood processing industries. The participants of the event were able to get acquainted with the educational programs and teachers of all departments, including logging and wood processing industries.

Andrey Titunin, Head of the Department of Logging and Wood Processing Industries at Kostroma State University, spoke about what specialties can be obtained at the department and what career paths open up for graduates. Alla Zhukova and Tatyana Zaitseva, coordinators of educational projects of the Sistema Charitable Foundation, presented the possibilities of the Elevator to the Future Foundation's career guidance project for students of vocational schools and universities, including the Elevator to the Future Internships and the First Internship project.

The participants of the Open Day were able to communicate directly with representatives of the employer at the career meeting "Development of the forestry complex of the Kostroma region". Employees of the Galich Plywood Mill, Nina Sokolova, a leading specialist in personnel training, and Maria Khabazova, a recruitment specialist, made a presentation of vacancies, talked about the possibilities of combining work and higher education for graduates of vocational schools and answered questions from the audience.

"The Open Day is an opportunity for the university and applicants to get to know and understand each other in advance. The guests were able to see that higher education in forestry specialties is an opportunity to gain in–depth knowledge and high qualifications. We were glad to receive confirmation that young people are interested in studying and working in the forestry industry – this means that the information campaign within the framework of the social impact project has reached its audience. I am sure that we will see some of the participants of today's event among the applicants," emphasizes Denis Tchaikovsky, Acting Rector of Kostroma State University.

The most effective career guidance is visual. Therefore, a series of excursions to Kostroma State University and Galich Plywood Mill was organized for schoolchildren, students and teachers of the pilot municipalities of the impact project (Kostroma city, Galich city, Kostroma, Galich, Chukhlomsky municipal districts).

"We consider it important to create various opportunities for students and teachers to get acquainted with modern production, this year more than 200 teachers, students of schools and colleges from Kostroma, Chukhloma and Galich will visit the Galich Plywood Mill only in 2-3 quarters. This is a new form of work that helps the younger generation choose their path in life and forms a respectful attitude to work. In spring and summer this year, teachers, students and schoolchildren will visit us, who will walk through the workshops, look at the forest exchange and the finished goods warehouse. Together with mentors at such events, we continue to look for potential members of our team. In general, we want to show that the modern forestry industry is intelligent and high–tech. Here - automated management, research work, employee idea factory, quality management, logistics, finance, protection and reproduction of forests. Our work on the impact project of the BF Sistema is a visual demonstration of the latest technologies, capacities and unique products, an excellent tool for increasing the prestige of forestry professions," says Alexey Cheglakov, General Director of Galich Plywood Mill LLC.

In addition, Kostroma State University held thematic classes for teachers of pilot educational organizations of the impact project - students of advanced training courses. The participants plunged into the abyss of the timber industry: the structure and properties of wood, automated technologies for designing woodworking products and even working on a laser machine – everyone carved a memorable keychain for themselves. We also had an excursion to the Les workshop, which was equipped and opened at the Kostroma College of Industrial Technologies of Construction and Forestry Industry last year as part of the impact project.

Personnel for the Kostroma Region Timber Industry is Russia's third social impact project (impact project) in the field of education, implemented in the Kostroma Region from February 2022 to September 2024 by the Sistema Charitable Foundation with the support of the Department of Education and Science of the Kostroma Region and the expert participation of the Segezha Group timber holding. The aim of the project is to create conditions in the region for the professional self–realization of young people, to improve the quality of education in forestry specialties and the attractiveness of work in the forest sector.
