Russian Railways Holding has opened 2 new waiting rooms for the Mobility Assistance Center (CSM) at the Barnaul and Voronezh-Yuzhny railway station complexes (Pridacha).
They are designed for passengers with limited mobility and are being created as part of a project to create an accessible, comfortable and modern environment for all categories of citizens, including passengers with disabilities.
The lounges are versatile and take into account the different needs of passengers and the different scenarios of their trip. The space is a waiting and relaxing area with soft ergonomic furniture, which makes your stay at the station more comfortable while waiting for the train. Special seats are provided for passengers traveling in wheelchairs with the possibility of recharging electric wheelchairs.
Special attention is paid to the availability of services and information. The halls have induction equipment for passengers with hearing impairment, departure and arrival boards, as well as touch-screen video terminals that allow them to receive information about the station's services and contact the operator, including using Russian sign language. Staff call buttons are provided for prompt assistance.
The opening of the new halls was another step in the development of the escort system for passengers with limited mobility on the Russian railway network.
Today, more than 10,000 railway stations and bus stops provide free assistance services for applications submitted through the Russian Railways Mobility Assistance Center. The service operates around the clock and covers all stages of the trip – from arrival at the station to boarding and disembarking from the train.
The escort service at Barnaul and Voronezh-Yuzhny railway stations (Pridacha) is in demand. On average, each of them executes about 10 requests per day.
Work on the creation of CSM waiting rooms continues. By the end of this year, 8 more such spaces will be opened.
