Over the past day, 22 forest fires on an area of 1.8 thousand hectares have been extinguished in Russia on the lands of the forest fund. At 11:00 Moscow time on September 24, the extinguishing of 74 forest fires continues on an area of 12.4 thousand hectares. More than 600 people and 60 pieces of equipment are involved in the elimination of fires.
"Today, the forest fire situation in the whole country is stable. According to the Russian Hydrometeorological Service, in most of the territories there is a decrease in fire hazard classes according to weather conditions. However, in some regions, significant fires are recorded in the forest fund. Moreover, the main reason for their occurrence is the burning of dry vegetation in adjacent territories. Therefore, the regions should continue to prevent forest fires, especially in terms of preventing fire from entering the forest from lands of other categories," said Alexey Venglinsky, Deputy Head of the Federal Forestry Agency, at a meeting of the Federal Headquarters for Coordinating Forest Fire Extinguishing Activities.
Today, the fire season is open in 83 regions of the country. A special fire protection regime has been introduced on the territory of 37 subjects, and a municipal and regional emergency regime is in effect in 4 subjects - access to the forest is prohibited or restricted for the duration of their operation.
