A meeting of the joint working group of Russian and Chinese Railways was held in Beijing under the leadership of Irina Magnushevskaya, Deputy General Director and Head of the Russian Railways Corporate Transport Services Center, and Di Wei, Deputy General Director of the Chinese Railways Group.

During the meeting, special attention was paid to increasing traffic volumes and improving the efficiency of checkpoints with China.

The parties agreed on a parity basis to expand the use of technology for transshipment of export cargoes in containers and big bags at their border stations using empty wagons of the other side, which were released after unloading. Regarding the expansion of the range of goods transported, they agreed on the transportation of passenger cars from China to Russia in 40-foot container trucks (with a gross weight of 35 tons), and also agreed to continue work on increasing the volume of transportation of Russian grain cargoes (through the Trans-Baikal grain terminal and the Nizhneleninskoye–Tongjiang border crossing) and optimizing the conditions for the transportation of dangerous goods (liquefied petroleum gases and lithium-ion batteries).

We also agreed to jointly develop cargo transportation by accelerated container trains through the largest Zabaikalsk–Manchuria border crossing, while optimizing the traffic schedule at this checkpoint.

In terms of increasing the digitalization of rail transportation, it was agreed to accelerate the transition from testing to pilot transportation using an electronic bill of lading using paperless technology. A corresponding document was signed between Russian Railways and the KZhD Group of Companies.

In addition, it is planned to continue the practice of technical visits and youth exchanges between the railways of Russia and China, which will become a good platform for strengthening mutual trust and sharing experience in the development of the railways of the two countries.

"These decisions will improve the efficiency of our border crossings, and will also contribute to the growth of traffic between Russia and China," said Irina Magnushevskaya.
