The Rybinsk enterprise "UEC-Saturn" (part of the Rostec United Engine Corporation) continues to produce industrial gas turbine engine swirlers by additive method. The parts are designed for the domestic serial high-power gas turbine GTD-110M.

UEC-Saturn specialists have developed a unique design and manufacturing technology for the central swirl of the low-emission combustion chamber of the gas turbine GTD-110M. The part has a very complex geometry, including developed internal surfaces and channels.

In the manufacture of this part, a heat-resistant nickel-based alloy is used. The alloy, also developed by UEC-Saturn specialists, has passed the general qualification and is approved for the production of gas turbine engine parts, including aviation ones.

The production of parts by the method of layer-by-layer selective laser fusion is organized at the ODK-Saturn enterprise and at the Center for Additive Technologies (CAT).

"Shaping this complex detail with traditional technologies is simply impossible. Therefore, the combustion chamber swirl was designed taking into account the capabilities of additive technologies. The technology successfully worked out at UEC-Saturn has been transferred to the Center for Additive Technologies for the production of a part of the parts blanks," said Denis Fedoseev, Deputy Chief engineer of the experimental plant for additive technologies at UEC−Saturn, UEC expert.

GTD-110M is a serial high–power gas turbine engine designed for use as part of gas turbine power and combined-cycle gas installations. Previously, similar turbines in power were imported from abroad. The engine is designed to drive electric generators as part of gas turbine power and steam-gas installations with an electric capacity of 115 MW. The distinctive features of the GTD-110M engine in comparison with foreign analogues are lower weight and dimensions, as well as high fuel efficiency.

UEC-Saturn is an active participant in the UEC project for the development of additive technologies. The company develops and manufactures in an additive way more than one and a half thousand parts of gas turbine engines per year.

Specialists of the company under the import substitution program are developing and certifying domestic metal powder compositions.
