China's Midea Group Co. is considering an IPO of German robot manufacturer KUKA AG in Shenzhen or Hong Kong in 2027. This is reported by foreign media.

Midea acquired KUKA's assets in 2016 for more than $4 billion, prompting a negative reaction from German and European politicians regarding the involvement of foreign investments in the economy. As a result, the German government has tightened the rules for verifying transactions related to secret technologies.

In 2025, Midea's revenue in the robotics and automation segment increased by 8% to $4.6 billion, with KUKA's Chinese division accounting for 30% of the total. KUKA supplies industrial robots for production lines Volkswagen AG and Airbus SE.

Robotics manufacturers, including Unitree Robotics, Leju Robotics and Deep Robotics are seeking to place shares in China, which is positioned as an AI development hub.

Midea Group is a Chinese manufacturer of household appliances, industrial air conditioning systems and robots. The headquarters is located in Foshan, China.

KUKA AG is a German industrial robot manufacturing company with headquarters in Augsburg, Germany. KUKA develops industrial robots and unmanned mobile platforms for various industries (automotive, electronics, metallurgy, logistics, etc.) through a network of representative offices around the world.
