Gazprom Neft and the Association of Specialists and Enterprises in the field of Oil and Fat Waste Processing (APMO) at the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum signed an agreement on strategic partnership in the field of production of ecological motor biofuels. This is stated in the message of the parties.

As part of the cooperation, the companies will join forces to develop an infrastructure in Russia for the collection and processing of plant raw materials for the subsequent production of aviation and marine fuels with a low carbon footprint.

In accordance with the agreement, the partners will create a unified system in Russia for the collection, delivery and processing of fat and oil raw materials from catering companies, agricultural producers and livestock farms. This will create a resource base for increasing the production of marine biofuels for refueling ships in the Baltic and Black Seas. Also, the processed vegetable raw materials will be used as a component of aviation SAF fuel, which is being developed by the Gazprom Neft Technology Center for Industrial Innovation.

SAF (sustainable aviation fuel) is an aviation fuel with a low carbon footprint, produced on the basis of esters and fatty acids. The use of SAF makes it possible to reduce greenhouse gas emissions from air transportation by up to 80%, the report says.

The Association of Specialists and Enterprises in the Field of Fat and Oil Waste Processing (APMO) is an independent project to create an effective system in the field of waste processing in the fat and oil industry.

Gazprom Neft PJSC (TIN 5504036333) and its subsidiaries are holders of licenses for exploration and development of deposits. The proven oil reserves in the company's fields exceed 4.5 billion barrels. Gazprom Group is the largest shareholder of the company.
