The American Hewlett Packard Enterprise Co. has received court approval to take over Juniper Networks Inc. for $14 billion. This is reported by foreign media.
In April 2026 Hewlett Packard faced resistance from the attorneys general of 12 states and the District of Columbia, who challenged the approval of the deal by the US Justice Department, arguing that the approval was unjustified and corrupt.
In early 2025, the Department of Justice filed a lawsuit to ban the deal, which violates antitrust laws, reducing the sector from three major players (HPE, Juniper and Cisco Systems Inc.) to two with control over 70% of the market, but in June changed the decision and concluded a settlement agreement with Hewlett Packard.
As part of the settlement agreement, the combined company will have to sell the Instant On wireless business owned by HPE and auction the license related to the Juniper Mist AI software. The deal was closed in July 2025.
The deal was previously approved by the regulatory authorities of the United Kingdom and the European Union and was supposed to be completed in 2025. The financing of the deal in the framework of term loans in the amount of $14 billion was provided by Citigroup Global Markets Inc., JPMorgan Chase Bank, N. A. and Mizuho Bank, Ltd.
The deal is aimed at strengthening Hewlett Packard's position in the field of AI and hybrid cloud business development, which increase demand for secure, unified technology solutions.
