The Ministry of Justice has registered an instruction from the Bank of Russia on the list of cryptocurrencies that may be available to unqualified investors. The list includes Bitcoin, Ethereum Ether and USD Tether. This is evidenced by the message from the Central Bank.
This directive from the regulator will come into force on November 17th. From this day on, exchanges can allow these assets to be publicly traded.
Unqualified investors will be able to buy cryptocurrencies through brokers, managers, and crypto exchanges. Transactions can be carried out both on and off the exchange. For unqualified investors, a maximum limit of 300 thousand rubles per year will be introduced through one intermediary. Qualified investors will be able to buy any crypto assets without any restrictions.
Before making a deal, an investor, regardless of their status, needs to be tested and familiarize themselves with the risks of investing in cryptocurrency.
The list includes only the most liquid digital assets selected according to strict legal criteria. Experts estimated their market capitalization, average daily trading volume and quotation history on global platforms — it should be at least 5 years old.
