The dock workers' strike in the Dutch port of Rotterdam has ended. This is reported by foreign media.

The refusal to continue the strike is related to an agreement reached with employers regarding a new collective labor agreement, which provides for a 17-20% increase in workers' wages over three years.

On October 12, the parties agreed through the court to start a new round of negotiations and suspend the strike on October 13. At the same time, the workers planned to resume the strike on October 17 if no agreement on a new collective labor agreement was reached by that date.

On October 17, workers overwhelmingly approved the collective labor agreement reached between the Federation of Trade Unions of the Netherlands (FNV) and the port companies International Lashing Service and Matrans.

Work has begun at the port to eliminate disruptions in the operation of the port's terminals caused by the long-term strike of port workers, which began on October 8. At the moment, 13 container ships, including 11 long-distance vessels and two coasters are waiting to enter the harbor of Rotterdam.

The port Authority is striving "to eliminate the congestion as soon as possible and restore order in the port and the logistics chain, since the continuation of the strike would have a disproportionately strong impact on the logistics system as a whole."

The conclusion of a new employment contract is a positive result for workers, consumers, enterprises and government agencies that depend on a functioning logistics system.
