According to operational data, the number of tourist trips across the country in 2024 increased by more than 10%, including due to an increase in the number of foreign tourists by a third. This was announced by the Minister of Economic Development of the Russian Federation Maxim Reshetnikov at a meeting of the Board of the Ministry of Economic Development.

"We have developed good synergy with representatives of the industry, with senators, with the regions. It's a lot of work, which is expressed in numbers. Last year, according to operational data, the number of tourist trips increased by more than 10%, including foreign tourists — by 35%. This is a direct consequence of the decisions that were supported by the President on electronic visas and group visa—free travel," he said. Maxim Reshetnikov.

The leading regions in terms of travel growth rates were the Chechen Republic, Tuva, Ulyanovsk and Ryazan regions, which showed an increase of more than 35%. The list of the most popular destinations has traditionally been topped by Moscow, where the number of travelers staying in hotels increased by 7.6% over the year to 12.1 million, and the Krasnodar Territory, which showed an increase of 14.4% to 10 million people. The third place was taken by St. Petersburg, which was visited by 6.4 million tourists last year, an increase of 23.2%.

At the same time, updated annual data from Rosstat on the number of trips will be available at the end of March. The Ministry of Economic Development expects to reach the previously predicted figure of more than 91 million trips.
