Power Minerals Limited (PML), a subsidiary of EP Power Minerals GmbH (EPPM), and Drax Power Limited (Drax) have entered into a 20-year joint venture agreement. Thus, a plant for processing old coal ash into fly ash will be built. This is stated in the EPH message.
Fly ash is an additional binder that is used in eco-friendly cement and concrete. The use of this material will reduce carbon emissions.
PML will build, own, and manage the object. Drax will sell spent fuel ash (PFA) to the joint venture and will supply electricity to the facility. The facility will be located near the Drax power plant. Production is expected to begin by the end of 2026. The initial annual capacity of the plant will be 400 thousand tons.
Using Drax's PFA will result in a reduction of CO2 emissions by at least 6 million tons.
