The net profit of the Russian banking sector in August 2026 amounted to 440 billion rubles, a decrease of 0.7% compared to the previous month. The return on equity was 24%. This is reported in the materials of the Bank of Russia.
Core profit decreased by 4% to RUB 425 billion. Banks increased spending on reserves by 27% to RUB 213 billion. At the same time, they mostly increased in the corporate portfolio (almost 2 times). The regulator attributes this to the normalization of deductions after the low July figure, when banks restored reserves for individual companies.
The Bank reduced its operating expenses by 5%, including 32% for marketing. Non-core income increased by 43% due to dividends from subsidiaries.
The total financial result of the banking sector in August amounted to 436 billion rubles against 422 billion rubles in July.
