Norilsk Nickel and BelAZ will build a mining equipment plant in the Krasnoyarsk Territory. This was announced by Interros (as of March 13, 2026, Interros owns 33.51% of Norilsk Nickel).

The partners are creating a joint venture with a capacity of about 150 units of mining equipment per year.

Norilsk Nickel said that the decision to start its own production was a response to supply disruptions caused by sanctions. The adaptation of new suppliers to work with equipment in 2025 led to a decrease in metal production.

The new plant will be located in Sosnovoborsk, the documents for the lease of the site have already been received. Dump trucks and loading and delivery vehicles will be produced, both on diesel fuel and on alternative energy sources.

The company signed a cooperation agreement in January 2025. By that time, Norilsk Nickel had already tested the first six underground dump trucks with a lifting capacity of 50 tons at its mines.

The Belarusian Automobile Plant (BelAZ) is a Belarusian company producing mining machinery. It is located in the city of Zhodino, Minsk region.

MMC Norilsk Nickel is a diversified mining and metallurgical company that is the world's largest producer of palladium and high—quality nickel, as well as platinum, copper, cobalt, silver, gold, and iridium. MMC Norilsk Nickel's production units are located in the Norilsk Industrial District, on the Kola Peninsula and in the Trans-Baikal Territory in Russia, as well as in Finland. The company's shares are listed on the Moscow and St. Petersburg Stock Exchanges.

According to RA AK&M, by the end of 2024, Norilsk Nickel is among the leaders of the fifth ranking of the largest Russian companies' responsibility to society.
