The American oilfield services company Schlumberger NV (SLB) and Aker Carbon Capture (ACC) have closed a deal to create a joint venture in the energy sector. This is reported in the SLB press release.

The new company combines technologies, expertise and operational platforms to accelerate the implementation of carbon capture technology, including Just Catch and Big Catch modular plant technologies for medium and large-scale installations, as well as Just Catch Offshore for offshore gas turbines, as part of a large-scale industrial decarbonization.

In March 2024, SLB acquired a controlling stake in Aker Carbon Capture for $381.85 million. Currently, the joint venture has seven technological installations that are capable of capturing up to 1 million tons of CO2 emissions per year.
