Coal exports from Russia have doubled over the past 15 years to 211 million tons. This is reported by the Ministry of Energy with reference to the Minister of Energy of the Russian Federation Sergey Tsivilev.
Currently, 80% of coal export flows are directed to the countries of the Asia-Pacific region. The share of coal in the Russian Railways cargo turnover reaches about 40%.
The Russian Federation is implementing major projects for the modernization and construction of new thermal power plants in Eastern Siberia and the Far East with a total capacity of more than 2 GW. These facilities will not only strengthen the energy security of the regions, but also create a reliable base for increasing coal production as part of a new investment cycle in the coal industry, the head of the Ministry of Energy emphasized.
According to him, the purpose of the new investment cycle is to change the approach to managing the development of the industry, which will ensure resilience to external factors and increase its competitiveness. The new management system will cover all stages, from improved licensing to the liquidation of mines and mines.
The main directions of the new investment cycle are the expansion of the domestic coal consumption and export market, the development of new coal generation technologies, including generation using super-supercritical and then ultra-supercritical steam parameters, and the formation of an industry order.
New solutions will be developed in the field of industrial safety, the introduction of unmanned mining technologies and reducing the burden on the environment.
There are a total of 140 key technologies for the development of the coal industry. Special attention will be paid to the development of deep coal processing and coal chemistry.
