The Ministry of Economic Development has proposed practical mechanisms for applying the sustainable development rating for special economic zones (SEZs) for the BRICS countries. This is reported on the ministry's website.

In particular, it is planned to develop a collection of practical solutions (case book) on sustainable development for the SEZ. It is proposed to include best practices in the field of energy efficiency improvement, modernization of production facilities, development of social infrastructure and interaction with residents in the structure of the document.

In addition, the collection will contain issues of monitoring indicators, information disclosure, as well as areas of cooperation on the integration of these approaches.

Together with the Association of Clusters, Technoparks and SEZs of Russia, the functions of the BRICS SEZ Investment Navigator will be expanded due to the rating data and successful practices for achieving the SDGs. This will create a "single window" for a foreign investor with information about the site, preferences, available infrastructure, and its sustainability level.

SEZ is one of the most successful mechanisms for attracting investments in the Russian Federation. The revenue of their residents in 2025 amounted to 1.6 trillion rubles, investments reached 1.7 trillion rubles, or almost 40% of all investments in the SEZ, said Nikita Kondratiev, director of the Department of Multilateral Economic Cooperation and Special Projects, quoted on the website.
