The new university will be opened on the basis of Bashkir State University (BASHGU) and Ufa State Aviation Technical University (UGATU).
The corresponding order was signed by the head of the Ministry of Education and Science of Russia Valery Falkov.
"To establish that the functions and powers of the founder of Ufa University are carried out by the Ministry of Science and Higher Education of the Russian Federation. The objectives of the Ufa University are the implementation of educational activities on educational programs of higher education and additional professional educational programs, as well as conducting scientific activities," the document says.
As Dmitry Afanasyev, Deputy Minister of Science and Higher Education of the Russian Federation, noted during his visit to the Republic of Bashkortostan, the creation of a new university was initiated by the leadership of the region and supported by the Ministry of Education and Science of Russia. According to him, the potential that exists in the system of science and higher education in Bashkiria requires consolidation of efforts and scaling. This will also be facilitated by the participation of universities in the Priority 2030 program and other programs of the Ministry.
The head of the Republic of Bashkortostan Radiy Khabirov, in turn, noted that the unification of the two universities will lead to the formation of a new powerful core of scientific thought, educational progress and technology in the region and the country.
The branches of BASHGU and UGATU, according to the order, become branches of the Ufa University of Science and Technology. Among them are branches in Birsk, Neftekamsk, Sibai, Sterlitamak, Ishimbai and Kumertau.
The head of the university will be appointed no later than September 1, 2022, the charter of the new university will also be approved before the start of the new academic year.
