Gazprombank and Tomsk State University have signed a cooperation agreement, within the framework of which it is planned to create joint educational programs, conduct research in the field of information and quantum technologies, biotech and biomedicine, as well as organize internships for students. The agreement was signed at a meeting with the participation of representatives of GPB under the leadership of Deputy Chairman of the Board of GPB Dmitry Sauers, Rector of TSU Eduard Galazhinsky, vice-rectors, heads of scientific directions of the university.

– The key purpose of the meeting is to discuss promising projects that may develop in connection with the expansion of cooperation between Gazprombank and TSU and the entire ecosystem of the Tomsk scientific and educational complex, – said the Rector of TSU Eduard Galazhinsky. – In this sense, TSU acts as a pioneer, develops a scheme of interaction with a large ecosystem, and then we will connect the resources of the Large University of Tomsk. This story is especially relevant because we are about to sign a concession agreement to create a world-class intercollegiate campus. The campus should become a point of concentration of people, ideas, companies and universities that will generate new knowledge, technologies and products. Today we are discussing with our partners from the GPB the directions that will create the basis for this cooperation.

– We really have a lot of areas for cooperation, – said Dmitry Sauers, Deputy Chairman of the Board of Gazprombank. – Gazprombank supports initiatives for the development of science and technology and training for the innovative economy. We are glad to cooperate with one of the leading Russian universities and are ready to help ensure that educational programs are updated according to the requests of leading companies. Financial organizations are now among the leaders in the field of high technology, and we can integrate the accumulated knowledge into the training of specialists. It is already possible to see that cooperation with universities brings results, young employees with a high level of digital competencies come to us.

Within the framework of the partnership, research projects in the field of biotech are planned, which will allow creating new technologies to improve the quality of life and increase its duration. Thus, Gazprombank took part in the creation of the LIFT center (Life Improvement by Future Technologies Center), which deals with promising technologies in the field of biomedicine, neurobiology, and neuromedicine.

Tomsk State University, which has more than a century of history of medical research, presented its best practices at the meeting. In particular, Yuri Kistenev, Head of the Laboratory of Laser Molecular Imaging and Machine Learning at TSU, presented a platform for the implementation of optical biopsy. This approach uses biophotonics techniques for non-invasive medical diagnostics. Scientists use optical methods to identify biological markers of diseases such as lung cancer, tuberculosis, acute myocardial infarction, brain glioma and others. New methods to speed up diagnostics hundreds of times are being created with the support of the megagrant of the Government of the Russian Federation.

Special attention of the meeting participants was paid to working with big data and the development of artificial intelligence technologies. TSU uses them to find talented applicants, analyze scientific literature and solve other problems. Gazprombank uses similar tools, including for financial risk assessment, credit scoring, and document recognition. Combining the accumulated experience, competencies and resources will allow creating new effective tools based on AI and big data for automating various processes. During the meeting, the parties also discussed the issue of personnel training for GPB on the basis of the TSU Higher IT School (HITs).

As the Rector of TSU Eduard Galazhinsky noted, universities and institutes participating in the Big University of Tomsk will be connected to new projects created by TSU and Gazprombank. This will speed up the creation of developments that are on the frontier of the world scientific and technological agenda.
