On July 27, Honored Master of Sports of Russia, Olympic champion Semyon Elistratov held a short track master class in Yaroslavl as part of the Gazprom for Children social project. The master class was organized by the Gazprom Foundation for Support of Social Initiatives in cooperation with Gazprom Mezhregiongaz Yaroslavl LLC. The event was filmed by the national sports TV channel "Match!".
The meeting with the Olympic champion took place in a sports and recreation complex with a swimming pool, an ice rink and a universal hall, built as part of the Gazprom for Children project in 2023. It houses: an ice arena for hockey, figure skating and short track, two swimming pools - an educational and a 25—meter, a dry warm-up room and a universal gym for training in team sports.
Semyon Elistratov held a warm-up for the children, practiced turns on the ice with them, showed exercises with a ribbon, and at the end held a speed relay race. Each participant of the master class received autographs from the renowned athlete and memorable gifts from the Gazprom for Children project.
"I emphasized to the guys several times that for them today I am not an Olympic champion, not a world champion, but their friend who came to share his experience. I really like working with children. Then someone turns up in the Russian national team and tells me: "Semyon, remember how you gave us a master class, and now I'm training with you." This is doubly gratifying for me. Thanks to the Gazprom for Children project for the opportunity from the older generation of athletes to pass on knowledge to the younger generation, our future," Semyon Elistratov shared.
