Segezha Packaging (Segezha Group, MOEX: SGZH, a subsidiary of Sistema PJSFC) has completed a modernisation project at its plant in the Dutch town of Horn. The final stage of the project has seen the implementation of a new bottomer and the installation of a latest-gen palletiser Arcomat R3+ (Windmöller & Hölscher). Previously, the power supply system and the adhesive-feeding pipeline were upgraded. In spring 2021 a new Windmöller & Hölscher 8-colour flexo printing machine was installed.

Equipped with a digital adhesive delivery and control system, the new equipment will significantly improve the quality of paper sacks, particularly by preventing dust and water penetration during transport and storage. This is most crucial for manufacturers of foodstuffs (drinking cocoa, starch) and chemicals.

The upgrade at the plant in the Netherlands will help improve manufacturing efficiency and output quality while reinforcing the company's leading position in the market and meeting the growing demands of its customers.

'Investing in state-of-the-art equipment is an integral part of Segezha Group's development strategy. We do our best to retain our position among Europe's top paper packaging manufacturers and comply with current market trends and requirements. Our goal is to improve our products' appeal for our customers and end-users by offering quality packaging solutions capable of ensuring safety during transport and storage. The current project in the Netherlands will help us implement our "smart specialisation" strategy for improving the production rates and operational efficiency of the plant. In the future this concept will be implemented at the company's other facilities in Europe as well,' explained Rinat Stark, CEO of Segezha Packaging.

For reference: Segezha Packaging owns seven plants across Europe (in Germany, Denmark, the Netherlands, Italy, the Czech Republic, Turkey and Romania), with a total production capacity of 720 million units of products per year.
