The German concern Siemens AG is exploring the possibility of selling a significant part of the controlling stake in the medical equipment division of Siemens Healthineers AG. This is reported by foreign media.
Siemens AG has engaged consultants to evaluate the sale of 71% in Siemens Healthineers and distribute shares to investors as dividends. In 2025, shares of Siemens Healthineers fell by 9.6% at a market value of 52 billion euros ($61 billion).
A direct allocation of the stake would allow Siemens to largely exit the business, but the deal could lead to a potential tax hit for investors.
A final decision on exiting the business has not yet been made, and Siemens is considering other options, including retaining a minority stake, which can later be sold to finance other transactions.
Any transaction will require shareholder approval and will take place no earlier than 2026. In mid-November, Siemens plans to publish a business strategy for shareholders.
Siemens has previously reduced its stake in Healthineers, including the sale of shares in February 2025 as part of a 1.4 billion euro placement. Siemens Healthineers went public in March 2018 after raising 4.2 billion euros through an IPO.
