Rostelecom has started trial operation of the fiber-optic DWDM1 system from the Russian manufacturer BULAT, which is designed for the construction of national and international communication lines, the implementation of projects at the access level, aggregation and core networks with simple and complex topologies. This is stated in the message of Rostelecom.

On October 09, 2026, the BULAT DWDM system was included in the register of Russian industrial products of the Ministry of Industry and Trade of Russia under the code "Equipment for digital fiber-optic transport systems with spectral channel separation (DWDM/OTN)". Inclusion in the register confirms compliance with the requirements established by the Government of the Russian Federation for Russian industrial products, not only in terms of localization of production and technological operations in Russia, but also in terms of the use of domestic active component base.

The equipment is currently in trial operation: tests are carried out both in laboratories and on existing operator networks. Production is deployed at two sites — the main one at Rostelecom's RTT plant in St. Petersburg and an additional one at the partner company's facilities.
