The Government of the Russian Federation has approved the creation of a specially protected natural area of federal significance – the Volcanoes of Kamchatka National Park. The corresponding decree was signed by Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin, according to the website of the Cabinet of Ministers.
The National park is being created on the basis of a network of regional nature parks. The park's territory will cover Ust-Kamchatsky, Milkovsky, Ust-Bolsheretsky and Yelizovsky municipal districts.
Raising the legal status of these parks to the federal level will strengthen the protection of landscapes and natural complexes of the Kamchatka Territory in the face of a growing tourist flow to this region, the Cabinet of Ministers emphasizes.
