The volume of electric generation in Russia in January-October 2025 decreased by 1.4% compared to the same period in 2024 to 974.4 billion kWh. In October, production increased by 0.3% compared to October 2024 and increased by 13.6% compared to September of this year, reaching 102.2 billion kWh.

According to the UES System Operator, energy consumption in the Unified Energy System (UES) of Russia decreased by 0.8% in the first eleven months of this year compared to the same period last year. Taking into account the temperature adjustment, the current year's figure is -0.2%.
The G20 leaders supported tripling renewable energy capacity by 2030. The G20 summit was held on November 22-23, 2025 in Johannesburg, South Africa, where the leaders discussed key aspects of global energy, including the transition to clean energy. The G20 countries supported tripling the capacity of renewable energy sources (RES) by 2030 and doubling the average annual rate of energy efficiency improvement. The participants pledged to expand access to clean cooking technologies, realize the promised $2.2 billion for clean energy in Africa and develop interconnections in the continent. The declaration highlighted the acceleration of investments in renewable energy, hydrogen, and sustainable fuels with technology transfer to emerging economies, as well as financing reforms to reduce the cost of clean energy.
The average monthly equilibrium electricity purchase prices in the competitive market in November 2025 increased by 2.4% in Europe and the Urals, and by 12.8% in Siberia compared to the previous month. Compared to the same period a year earlier, the equilibrium average prices in the first energy zone were 15.2% higher in November, and 6.6% higher in the second. The difference between the average equilibrium price in these two zones in November was 7.8%. The price dynamics of the past month was relatively smooth in both the first and second energy zones — there were no price spikes with a drop of more than 10%.
Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin held a government meeting dedicated to the preparation of housing and communal services and electric power industry enterprises for the autumn-winter period. In general, the regions have allocated more than 347 billion rubles from their funds to prepare for the heating period. The Government also continues to provide targeted support to the regions from the federal budget. This year, five regions received it in the amount of 6 billion rubles, and four more applications are in the works. Of the 3,042 municipalities being checked, 2,890, or 95%, received readiness passports. This is 6% higher than last year's level. This heating season is expected to see an increase in electricity consumption, which will amount to 4% in the country as a whole compared to last year's average. The main backbone companies have confirmed their readiness for the heating season and received their readiness certificates. 12 out of 374 companies have not received their readiness certificates and are continuing to prepare and eliminate the comments.
